New Day Prayer

Help me Father, to begin to see You at the start of each day.

I pause to linger now in your Presence. Beginning my day with the knowledge that You are here with me. I have nothing to fear, for You are my God. I bask in the truth that you are goodness, holiness, righteousness and redemption.

Search me God, know my heart. Shine Your light of truth on anything that hints towards self-seeking, and not looking towards You to fill me, and flow through me.

Cleanse me from my sin of seeking after self-centered gain. Replace self with the joy of entering mission with You and reaching out to those whose hearts and lives are homeless, destitute of spirit and in need of discovering the Deliverer.

Awaken my ear to hear Your words. Words of urgency that propel me towards the proclamation of truth. Not just speaking of justice and mercy; but words backed up with action that stretch out my hand to the poor, ears that listen with compassion to the stories of the brokenhearted, an outstretched arm of giving to those in need.

Father God help me today to put the truth that I know, into action. An action that serves; gives freely without thinking of what I will obtain in reward.

Open my eyes to see far beyond myself into the wounded, needy hearts of others. To lift one aspect of their lives from a single element of pain. May I act out of the love of Christ that constrains me. Giving without consequence to myself or what I think I need. It is in the giving that I know that You will provide for all I need. You will fill me with the life-giving power of the Spirit of God. I only need to move in sync with Your voice as it propels me to move, speak, listen, apply a healing balm, reach out with a touch of mercy.

I don’t need to service my own needs, for in You, Lord, those needs will be met.

In the moment that I stretch out my hand to give – to meet another’s need, I offer up myself in service to Christ and in that instant my needs are met.

I love you Lord. You are all I need. Lead me into truth today as I join you in mission to serve others. May I see others through the eyes of Christ today.

Lord, thank you for your Presence today.

For the invitation to come, sit and abide with you.

Keep me ever mindful that You are always with me.

Infuse my heart with your love.

Keep my mind fixed upon your goodness, ever offering perfect peace.

 

Spirit of God lead me on a clear path today.

Keep me watchful for those in need along the way.

Looking to you for guidance of when to step in and when to stand back.

Help me to not get stuck in my own personal agenda.

Fill me with a heart of compassion for the needs of others.

 

Jesus, thank you for being my example.

Thank you for understanding who I am.

You know what my heart longs for, you know what I need in this day.

I offer up my praise to you; for You, Jesus, are enough for me.
