Messy Grief and Unrestrained Sorrow…An invitation to come where the Divine dwells
In the quiet sanctuary, the holy place where the Divine dwells, we find rest for our troubled souls.
Here we sit, too broken to stand.
Here we stretch out prostrate at His feet. Weary of heart. Weary of mind. Just plain weary!
Here we cry out. Our voice cannot form words.
Here we pour out our lament.
I lay my messy grief and unrestrained sorrow at His feet. He does not flinch at my uncouth offering. He does not pull away from the mess of my heart.
Here, in the presence of Christ, I am seen.
Here, in this holy sanctuary, I am heard.
My heart is so full of needing Him that childlike words pour forth.
“Abba. Abba Father. Papa Daddy, be all I need today.”
I have come. An anxious heart, engulfed in sorrow. Broken. Depleted. Alone. Tattered and soul-wrecked. I know I have come to the right place. A divine place. A holy place.
The soil of my sorrow touches His holiness, but instead of drawing away in disgust, He tenderly lifts my quivering chin, looks into my tear-filled eyes, and speaks words of holy, reverent love.
You, my Beloved Daughter. You have come to the right place. I am here; I am all that you need. Come and dwell.
Know that your joy is not dependent upon today’s circumstances.
Joy comes in full reliance upon the Joy Giver, not in the solving of what weighs so heavily on your heart.
I see your need. I feel your pain. Know that I am enough for you and for all that holds your heart.
Exchange your heavy heart for hope. Hope does not come from lifting your present circumstances but from the security and trust found in resting, waiting, and abiding with Me. I, Christ the Lord, am the Divine.
Come now and rest. Come wait. You will never wait alone. I am here.
I see your hurt and know your pain. I am enough. I am your Hope in The Waiting.
Messy grief does not surprise the Savior. He invites us to come!
Hope for the weary heart is found in the coming as we are… to dwell with the Divine.
“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11:28-30 The Message
