Living Fully Present: Hope in Uncertainty
When was the last time God led you into a waiting room? A waiting room without physical walls—a place where adversity and faith meet. Here, you are given the chance to embrace God’s character, yet somehow anxiety and overwhelm flood in, and all you can think about is solving your problem to ease the pain, remove the heartache, or erase the trouble.
I am familiar with God’s waiting rooms, as I am sure you are. It has taken me years to realize that when God calls us to enter, He is extending a sacred invitation to spend time with the Divine. It is here that God offers us a new opportunity to learn more about His character and experience an overflow of His grace. It is here, as we acknowledge our lack and lean into an all-wise God, that we find hope in our waiting.
It’s difficult to be trapped in an impossible situation. How often do we immediately look for a solution to our struggles or try to escape to what will numb our pain? But God is calling us to live fully present in uncertainty— to step into this moment of adversity and trust that He is there. He is with us. Amid the chaos, He is our hope.
When you’re unsure which path to take, God tenderly calls us to trust His character, rest in His promises, and rely on His strength. As we do this, peace replaces our fear and anxiety. Oddly enough, we learn to sit with our pain, knowing that God knows the best way forward. Rather than seeking human ways to escape it, we shift our gaze from our problem to God.
As we learn to live fully present amid uncertainty, our faith grows, and God becomes our hope in the waiting.
Waiting is hard, yet God calls us to a place of trust—full reliance on Him, knowing He knows the best way forward. Psalm 32:8 tells us that God “will guide you along the best pathways for your life.”
As we lean into all that Christ offers, we find He is our safe refuge in times of waiting. When we find ourselves in deep lament, He is our dwelling place of hope.
He is our strength when the waiting is long, and we feel we can’t take another day. “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, NLT)
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6, NLT
Are you looking for hope in your time of uncertainty? God tells us that we don’t need to give way to fear, anxiety, or overwhelm. His presence is with us if we turn to Him as we navigate our time of waiting.
Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10

During times of adversity when I have struggled to know the best way forward, I often find myself listening to music, praying and creating. This turns my heart heavenward instead of ruminating on what seems to not be working in my life.
